My dog needs dental cleaning, but hates brushing. What can I do?

Hi, my dog needs a deep teeth cleaning. I have some economic issues so I'm saving the necessary to cover at least a monthly payment. In a while what can I do to not get worse? He doesn't like the toothbrush. Pet's info: Dog | Maltipoo | Male | neutered | 11 years and 8 months old | 15 lbs
