My indoor/outdoor cat has nose wounds. Should I take him to a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 3 years and 9 months old | 15.44 lbs

My cat is an indoor/outdoor pet. I'm not sure what he's getting into but he came home like this last week but with far less. He came home the other night with more scratches on his nose I'm not sure if I should take him to a vet or if I can do something to take care of his wounds at home?

Hi there. I would have Jagger check by your vet. The wounds on his nose look infected, but there is also a chance they are not wound and actually something else causing an infection. Best to have him examined either way. I hope that helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
