My cat's front tooth looks missing. Is this normal or a concern?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 years and 6 months old | 7 lbs

I noticed when trying to brush my cats' teeth ( a recent thing I decided to start) that Luna seems to be missing a front tooth. Her other teeth look in good shape. I tried to take a closer look, but of course she didn't comply. Since this is a new thing, is it possible that she never grew that tooth? (I'm personally missing 4 permanent teeth that were never there) Or could she just have crooked teeth and it SEEMS missing? She doesn't seem to be in pain, but I'm a worrier.

Hi there. Either of the scenarios you describe could be possible. Cats have such small incisors that have such minimal attachment that it doesn’t take much to lose a front tooth. Also, being born without an adult tooth is also commonly seen. Regardless it is unlikely to affect her moving forward. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
