My dog is licking and chewing raw after grooming. What to do?

My year old malahi was groomed last week n now has been liking n chewing to the point of rawnedd. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 5 months old

If he was clipped he may be itchy from the clippers. Otherwise the shampoo may have irritated his skin. I recommend a cool water bath with hypoallergenic shampoo to soothe the skin. You can also give Benadryl to reduce the itching. There is a section on this website that has information and dosages of common over the counter medications. If he’s making sores, please use a cone to prevent chewing. If he can’t reach the itchy areas you can apply a thin film of cortisone cream on the skin to reduce the itch.
