Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 6 days old | 30 lbs
Hello !! So my dog has a hacking cough at night but his heart rate is 68bpm resting, breathing is 24 bpm and I think temp is fine too , he is about 8 months and is an Aussie Shepard , he’s in heart worm prevention and flea/tick also I gave him a tea spoon of honey to help with the cough , it’s been happening for quite a while, he’s also been pawing at his nose more recently (with both paws) is this allergies or something more serious ?. Already posted this question but I left out some details...

Cough can be caused by an infection, heart problem or lung condition, it is important to first know the cause before treating it as treatment is different from condition to another. The most common disease causing cough is a viral/bacterial infection called Kennel cough, this disease usually resolves without treatment within a couple weeks but if the cough is too severe it is recommended to go to the vet in order to get cough medicine and antibiotics.
