Ouch, poor Eileen! You can try to gently trim it off with nail clippers, but keep away from the quick (the pink part of her nail). If she won't allow you to do it, that means it's painful to her and I wouldn't force it. In that case, take her into the vet. They may have to sedate her to remove the hang nail with as little pain as possible to her. In this case, give the vet a call to set up an appointment. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
