My dog's tummy feels warm. Is this normal for a healthy dog?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 9 months old | 4 lbs

Bella's her usual self and plays with me from time to time. Her nose and ears are normal. But her tummy worries me .. Her tummy is really warm and is that normal for a dog? It's not hard or bloated just really warm.

A warm tummy is not alarming nor does it indicate anything is wrong with Bella. If you are concerned that your pet may have a fever hen the best way to determine that is to get her rectal temperature, which should be around 100-102.5 degrees F. As long as her rectal temperature is within normal range and Bellamis asymptomatic, she is likely just fine. However if you notice she is acting ill (vomiting, diarrhea, not eating), then it is best to take her in to your vet for an examination to determine her underlying illness and get her treated. Best of luck with Bella!
