My dog is coughing on and off. What can I do at home before the vet?

Kiba is coughing, he starts and coughs for a while and then it stops. It happened a couple times today. Is there something I can do at home to help him? We're going to the vet this week so if he needs any meds, we'll get them tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Pet's info: Dog | Havanese | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 6 days old

There really isn't anything over the counter that I recommend giving him. He could have a respiratory infection and your vet can prescribe an antibiotic and cough suppressant to help control his coughing. If he seems congested than you could put a humidifier in the room and/or put him in the bathroom with you while you shower.
