My senior dog with collapsed trachea and heart issues still coughs?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 16 years and 1 month old | 6 lbs

My 6 pd 15 yr old bishon hybrid has collapsed trachea and giant atrium. He’s on a lot meds butophrenol vetmedin etc. he still specks and honks????

Poor Cooper. Unfortunately, dogs with a collapsing trachea may always honk. Also, if he has an enlarged heart that is also pushing on his trachea, this may also cause him to cough. If he is coughing worse than usual, lethargic, breathing heavy, or anything else abnormal I would have your vet look at him. Your vet will be able to listen to his heart and lungs to ensure he doesn’t need his meds adjusted or changed. If he is honking so badly that he is stressed then I would also talk to your vet to see if his dosages can be adjusted. I hope this helps!
