My rabbit has small poop and tiny cecotropes. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | spayed | 8 months and 13 days old | 3.5 lbs

Most of hazels cecotrapes (sorry if spelt wrong) are really really small and only a little amount of them are usual size. Also her normal stools look normal but are smaller than usual (this has been happening for a few months).

Hi, you might have to take a look at any changes in the diet, decreased amount in vegetables offered or eaten, hay, any changes in the brand of pellets offered if any or in her water intake. In theory if she is eating well, and you increase the amount of fibre she eats , i.e. more hay offered the size of pellets should become larger and not so hard.. also monitor her weight and urine production. If not sure, best to have her checked over just in case she has any problems creeping up that are not very clear at the moment.. rabbits are not very good at showing symptoms !
