My 4-week-old kitten has diarrhea and vomiting. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 15 days old | 2.5 lbs

I have a 4 week old male kitten and he's had runny stools for 2 days and he vomited up a clear substance that I'm assuming is water, is there anything I can do for him?

Hello. I am sorry that Shadow isn't feeling well. If he is having runny stools and vomiting, a kitten that small can get dehydrated very quickly. If he isn't eating and is weak then it is very important for him to see a vet right away in order to make sure he isn't severely dehydrated. If the vomiting continues you will need to have him to a vet as well. He could have a virus, a severe worm burden, or an obstruction. If he will still eat and play well, the first step would be to get him dewormed, as the diarrhea and vomiting could be from worms. If you can get him checked by a vet that would be the best thing for Shadow. Best of luck with him!
