Why does my puppy twitch so much in their sleep? Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 28 days old

I probably sound stupid for asking as my first dog never dis this, but is it normal for a puppy to twitch a lot in their sleep. She has been twitching all four paws her nose her mouth and her ears in her sleep.

It can be quite normal to see some twitching while sleeping. I would be more concerned if there is twitching present when your puppy is awake. If this occurs, you can put some honey or Caro syrup on her gums in case of hypoglycemia, and see your vet as soon as possible.

Congratulations on your new puppy! Twitching during sleep can be very normal in a puppy so I don't think I would be concerned. As long as Beauty is otherwise behaving normally I would not be concerned.
