Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female | unspayed | 6 years and 11 months old | 22 lbs
Hi my dog keeps itching and banging against my bed she also is always trying to itch her stomach and back using our carpet. Also to add in we are currently staying at a hotel for a while and maybe something in the bushes got on her? There are a lot of bugs outside right now im not sure so I wanted to ask. Do you know what could be causing this? Is it bugs? Is their something else? Is their anything that can help her? Thank you.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The most common cause of itchy skin in dogs is an allergy. Dogs can be allergic to plants, pollen, food, carpets, chemicals used at home and outside and more. Insect bites also can produce itchy skin but this is usually local irritation and the bites are obvious on the skin. A visit at your local vets is recommended to make the definite diagnosis and to start treatment for your dog. It will likely be a short course of anti-inflammatory medication.
