What are the best flea and tick drops for a 6-month-old puppy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 6 months and 10 days old | 40 lbs

Hello, I was wondering what would be the best product for flea and tick prevention for a puppy who is 6 months old? Preferably the drops, not the tick and flea collar. Thanks!

I would actually recommend one of the oral options because those work best. Nexgard or Bravecto are my first choices. My favorite topical (drops) product is Frontline Gold, but the active ingredient in that has been our go-to flea preventative for the last two decades, and we're starting to see some resistance to it. I hope that helps and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
