Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 10 years and 1 month old | 100 lbs
Our 10 year old lab mix has recently started waking up when on our bed and seems to be afraid. He shakes and tries to lay across us which he normally doesn't do. He will also get up and walk around the bathroom as if he's searching for something. Trying to get into the closest and toilet. He acts normal at any other point of the day but when he is laying in bed. This also is not an instantaneous thing nor does it happen every night

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Hersh. He may have a condition known as canine cognitive dysfunction. This is somewhat similar to Alzheimer's disease in people. The dog can exhibit anxiety at night, pace, vocalize, get stuck in small rooms or corners. Some will seem to forget their house training and have accidents in the home. If these other symptoms sound familiar, it would be worth having him evaluated by his veterinarian. There are medications, supplements or diets that can be recommended. I hope this information helps!
