My kitten still has fleas after a bath. Is a flea collar safe to use?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 17 days old | 2 lbs

I gave my kitten a flea bath today and tons of fleas died. There are still a few left on her however. I would like to keep them from coming back. I used apple cider vinegar and water solution on her afterward as a temporary repellent. I have a flea collar but shes less than 6 months old! Would it be reccommended that i use it to keep the fleas and dirt from coming back?

Check the instructions on the collar to see if it can be used in kittens of Venus's age. I do have a safe flea treatment program I can give you for her, however. First, I would give her Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash her bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. Best of luck.
