My 2-month-old puppy bites a lot. How do I stop this nipping?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Lhasa Apso | Male | unneutered | 2 lbs

Pixel is 2 months old and he tries to bite us a lot. We know he is trying to play with us but sometimes it hurts. How to stop this? We have tried all the chew toys and sticks.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You are likely describing teething which is basically a normal type of behavior when puppies are growing up and it is secondary to mouth discomfort as teeth are growing. I recommend that you get Pixel teething type toys which you can get at your local pet store or online. Anytime that he tries to nibble at you, you say no and give him the toy. This is likely going to resolve the issue but it will take time to improve. Good luck and have a great day!
