Storm has a red patch under his chin. Thought it might be food so I tried to clean it off with a pet wipe and he kept growling at me. Is it possible its a scab or sonething else?

This looks like chin acne or a mild abrasion that is getting infected. I would wipe it with an acne pad if he’ll let you, or clean it with some hydrogen peroxide. Then apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. From the photo this looks like it should heal in a week or so. If not then bring him in to your veterinarian for treatment. Some cats get chin acne from eating out of a plastic bowl so switch to a metal or ceramic bowl. Also taking a warm damp cloth and wiping the area after he eats will help this clear up more quickly. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Storm.
