My cat has a cracked tooth and red gums after expensive dental work?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 12 lbs

Hi! Iam si excited about this service! I knew Christie Long in Mexico and I think this is a great idea! I don't know how this works but I have a cat, Meatball, who had 11 teeth pulled 16 months ago bc they were rotten. They said there was one with a crack but did not remove it then. I cannot afford another $1500 dental bill but the area around the cracked remaining tooth looks a little red. What should I do?

I am so glad you found us! I would continue to monitor Meatball for signs of pain from the cracked tooth, including decreased appetite, pain when you touch the tooth, lethargy, hiding, etc. If he has issues with the tooth, it may be possible to simply remove that tooth and not do a full cleaning or dental x-rays, but you should discuss that option with your vet. Wet or dry food is fine, whichever he prefers.
