Why is my dog chewing his tail? How can I soothe him until the vet?

We recently moved to South Carolina from OH. In the last week dog chewing tail incessantly. Can't get to the vet until Wednesday (no appointments) is there something I can do to give him some relief? Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 7 years and 8 months old | 81 lbs

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! That location is common for fleas. I would check carefully for fleas. You can bathe him in a medicated shampoo but they will arrive after Wednesday. You can stop at pet store for an oatmeal shampoo. You can also try an antihistamine. Thankfully you only have to wait 2 more days.
