Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | 10 lbs
Budgies. One minute, their fighting, the next, they're on their perch swing grooming each other and chirping. Then fighting again.should I separate them? They seem very bonded to each other but...hate each other at the same time? They don't fight to the point of hurting each other, just pecking and making that fighting sound. Sometimes kicking.

It may be that there is something leading up to the fights such as too cramped of quarters, not enough food and water dishes, or other shared resources. Sometimes, adding in extra food and water dishes, some toys that can break up the perches into sections so each bird has a "space", etc can help reduce fighting, especially if they are otherwise happy to be together. If the fighting is bad enough that it is causing stress or injury to one or both birds, then separating them to different cages or moving them to a much larger one where they each have space is likely the best option.

If their quarters are too cramped it could be causing stress which may cause your budgies to lash out at each other once in a while. Making sure both have access to food, water, perches for resting, toys, etc can help reduce stress and potential fights over these items. Adding in something such as a hanging toy to break a perch into two sections with a barrier, or even using clothespins can help your birds separate if a fight does break out. Otherwise, time, love, treats, and some fun toys to keep them occupied can help your birds enjoy their time together. If they continue to fight or the problem worsens, you may need to consider removing them to separate cages.
