Why does my dog have a new white spot on his nose? Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My miniature pinscher is 5 and I noticed this white spot on his nose. It's smooth, not a raised bump, almost as if he's just lost pigment there. Is this normal? It wasn't always there.

Hello. He's very cute! It's likely that he either injured himself mildly, or had an abrasion there and he's lost the normal nasal tissue in that area due to scarring. Nothing to be worried about unless it changes, or becomes a raised bump. Then I'd have him checked by your vet. I hope that helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
