My dog keeps licking his red, pimply paws. What can I put on them?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Puggle | Male | neutered | 2 years and 8 months old | 25 lbs

I noticed my 2 1/2 year old puggle licking his paws like crazy lately. I decided to check and see what has him licking them. I found pimple like things and and in between his pads were really red. Is there anything to put on his paws to help?

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The paw pads do appear a bit red to me from the pictures. You can try an Epsom Salt bath for his paws 2-3 times daily for 5-10 mins. If you notice no improvement or if they worsen, he may need to see his veterinarian for an exam and antibiotics or other medications as needed.
