I have a 3 or 4 week old kitten. I'm pretty sure he's constipated. He pee's without bring stimulated , would he still need stimulated for pooping ? & by any chance is miralax okay to give ? I've read different answers online. He has an appointment for Thursday for general check up. He'd bottled fed as he was thrown out of a car

Hi, thabks forcusing Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Kitten formula can be her constipating. I recommend bottle fed kittens start weaning by 3 weeks of age due to this. Start mixing the formula in with canned kitten food for a week, gradually decreasing the amount over a week. Then over next week if so add in dry food. This should help the stools. If it has been more the 2 days without a stool he should be seen before Thursday. Good luck!

I don't think there is kitten formula that would be less likely to lead to constipation. At four weeks old Beesty Boy is probably ready to start experimenting with actual cat food, and usually once they are on solids the constipation issues improve in bottle fed kittens. You may want to ask your vet if they think it's okay to start to introduce solids. I usually recommend using a dry kitten kibble (I like Royal Canin's Mother/Babycat) and moistening it with KMR until it's a gruel consistency. Place on a flat plate and let Beesty make a mess! While he might also be getting close to the age where he won't require stimulation to urinate and defecate I would keep that up for a little while since he has had problems with constipation. A warm cotton ball is fine.
