Hi, I just discovered a pink roundish growth on my pups chin. Looks almost like a tick, but has fur growing through, or out of it. I’m not sure if it’s something I need to take her to a vet for or if I’m worrying over nothing.

Hi there. It sounds like Strider just has a benign growth on her chin, pink bumps can be many things including clogged hair ducts, warts, or benign skin tumors. It's not an emergency, but to be safe I would make an appointment with your vet to have them take a small sample with a needle and just confirm whether it need to just be monitored or if removal is a good idea. I hope that helps and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. There is no way of knowing what it is just based on its appearance. No growth is considered normal. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Good luck and have a good night!
