Why is my dog aggressive and biting people? How can I stop it?

Carl is about 9 years old and he is very aggressive. He bites people often and last night he bit me right underneath the eye. He is getting dangerous but I love him so much I don’t want him to be put down. What can I do to stop this? Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 11 lbs
