My puppy's poop has white worm-like things. What should I do?

Took puppy out to restroom. Noticed white wormlike movement in its stool. Picked up sttol and deposited in trash. What can I do? It was several worm like things. Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 5 months and 10 days old | 15 lbs

Hello and thank you for your inquiry. Puppies like Amirah are indeed very prone to internal parasites like hookworms, whipworms, roundworms, or tapeworms. She could have gotten this from her mother at birth or picked them up just by walking, sniffing, and licking in places where other dogs with worms have been. Please do not use an OTC dewormer from a pet store because internal parasites can cause serious illness to your dog if treated incorrectly. Therefore, you need to have a vet diagnose and treat them correctly the first time. I encourage you to take her to a veterinarian as soon as possible so they can do a fecal examination to tell exactly what worm she has. I hope this helps.
