Hi there! No worries, it's not a silly question at all :) As a high school student, the most important things you can do now would be to take as many advanced science classes as you can, and get good grades. If you're able to get a part-time job cleaning kennels or bathing dogs at a local veterinary clinic, this would also be great - it's a good way to get a close-up look at the profession to see if this is something you really want to do, and you'll need clinic work experience when it comes time to apply to veterinary school.

Visit the link below from the American Veterinary Medical Association for more information on how to increase your chances of getting into vet school: https://www.avma.org/public/Careers/Pages/vet-school-admission-101.aspx You can start gearing the courses you take to meet the requirements for application. Also make sure you get experience working with a variety of animals (farm animals like horses and cows, wildlife, lab animals, and exotic pets) in addition to working with dogs and cats, as this can help you learn a lot about the profession. Best of luck to you!
