My senior cat won't eat, has a bad tooth. Is anesthesia safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 11 lbs

14 year old cat isn’t eating. Drinks only a little but recently drank a lot. Has rotten tooth, causing pain. Just threw up a little green vomit(perhaps bike). Needs tooth extraction of canine teeth but am worried about her previous asthma and perhaps other issues having trouble with general anesthesia. Needs vet trip but hoping first to have some advice before spending hundreds of dollars!

My advice is to get this tooth extracted asap. It will be causing Beansy a lot of pain, and will make her quite sick. Not eating is a medical emergency, as if cats go 72 hours or longer without eating, they will develop a fatty liver. A fatty liver is fatal without treatment, so you want to avoid that. I think she needs to see a vet now.
