Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | neutered | 15 lbs
I have a Chihuahua that has been getting these small flacky scab like patches under his coat. When I brush or comb him he seems to like it when I come over those areas. But when I do, the flakes come off with hair and all. I've seen him rubbing himself on the couch or anything he can get close to. There is no odor. They are only located on his back, none on the legs, face, ears. Just all along his spine and a few on his sides. The scabs are dark in color. They don't seem to hurt him

It sounds like he could have a bacterial skin infection. You could bathe him with a medicated dog shampoo and see if that helps. Otherwise, have him examined by your vet for treatment. He may need an antibiotic and a corticosteroid to help treat his problem. You could also add Free Form Snip Tips to his diet to help keep his skin and coat healthy.
