Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 9 years and 8 months old | 75 lbs
My dog has had fat deposits in the past on her body that we had removed at the vet in past without worry. The vet said they weren't anything to be concerned about. The deposits have come back. Should we be taking her to get them checked? Is there any way we can tell if they are more serious?

Hi there! Yes, it's always a good idea to get any new lumps checked by your vet, even if they seem similar to the ones she's had before. Your veterinarian may be able to tell what they are by palpating them, as fatty tumors (lipomas) has a distinctive feel that is often easy to recognize without further testing. If there is any concern that they might be something more serious, your vet should be able to do a simple test called a fine needle aspirate - this is a quick, painless procedure that involves using a small needle to remove a few cells from inside the lump for testing. This will usually give enough information to tell if the lump is anything worrisome or not.
