This answer will vary greatly based on the individual vet preference. I have always fed my dogs Purina ProPlan, because I like the options based on my individual dogs. They also use high-quality ingredients, and quality control is excellent. The specific variation of ProPlan depends on the individual pet, their age, and their activity level. This is my favorite for normal, adult dogs: https://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=31232

Ask 10 different veterinarians which is their favorite dog food and you will probably get 10 different opinions! I do like the foods created by Royal Canin and Purina Pro Plan - I feed Pro Plan to all of my pets. That being said, as long as my patients are healthy and not having any issues with their current dog food, you won't find any complaints from me - even if it is the cheapest food on the market! Issues that could be caused by a poor or untolerated diet would be weight gain or weight loss (when it isn't on purpose), dull or dry hair coat, flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, or vomiting. I do recommend seeing if your dog food meets AAFCO standards.
