Pet's info: Dog | Redbone Coonhound | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 25 days old | 25 lbs
For the last three days my dog (almost 5 months old) has had diarrreah and just today her feces had an excess amount of mucus. She has been having to go to the bathroom an excessive amount through out the last 3 days and especially during night. She used to only defecate twice or maybe three times a day but now it's almost every 2 hours or less. She had been acting as happy and energetic as always but clearly something is wrong. What can I do to help her?

The symptoms you describe sound like large bowel diarrhea, colitis. Colitis can be caused by intestinal parasites, infection, stress, and dietary indiscretions among other possibilities. I would encourage you to have Bella evaluated by your veterinarian before she become more sick. Be sure to take a sample of her feces with you to your appointment. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
