My dog's ears smell bad with waxy, fungus-like buildup. What to do?

Spooky's ears smell. Has a yucky wax buildup. There is now what looks like ' fungus, mushroom' stuff on the inner flap of the ear. I have tried witch hazel on cotton balls. Peroxide on cotton balls and I don't know what to do next

Spooky looks like he may have a yeast infection in his ears, which could explain the smell. I strongly recommend getting Spooky to the vet as soon as possible for an exam and some labwork. For now, I would wipe his ears out gently with a warm damp washcloth and try to find a way to keep his ear flaps up so air can get underneath and allow them to dry out a little. A sleeve from an old t-shirt slipped over his head to hold his ears open might help and can also help him from injuring the ear flaps as he shakes his head.
