I took my car to the vet. Turns out he had ear mites. But he still smells they said it was anal glands. But I just realized why it smells familiar. He smells like dirty belly button? It gets worse then goes to normal then fine? He has no other symptoms

Anal sacs can smell pretty badly, and if they get impacted, that can cause a problem. Sometimes cats will also release the contents of their anal sacs due to stress. I'd try Glandex to see if that helps.
