My cat has ear rash and patchiness. Should I treat it before the vet?

My cat seems to have patchiness and rash on his ears. What medication or what should I do to help him. We have his first appointment in a few days

I would not do anything to this. Wait until your vet appointment. This could be anything from mange to ringworm to an autoimmune disorder. Treatments are not the same for every possible skin disease so you need a diagnosis before you can apply any treatment. If it is bothering him that much you could always take him in on an emergency visit to a 24 hour clinic. I don't think that is necessary but you know him best. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
