Dogs can itch for multiple reasons. They can have allergies, mites, a skin infection, etc. It is hard to say what else to do when we don't know exactly what was given previously. I would recommend treating for an infection with antibiotics and a medicated shampoo (if there still is an infection), if there is evidence of mites I recommend a once monthly pill like Simparica or Bravecto (this is once every three months). These pills will also help with fleas if that is the cause. If it is allergies there are great new options for dogs like daily pills (Apoquel) or monthly injections (Cytopoint). I would discuss with your veterinarian what they previously gave and different options to make Taffy more comfortable. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
