Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 months and 3 days old | 2 lbs
I have a 3 month old kitten that I adopted from an animal shelter. She’s been having frequent loose yellow stools and her vet took a fecal test and said everything was normal. I called her vet again today because the stools are still yellow, loose, and frequent. They also smell horrible. He said to watch her for a few more days and if it continues to bring her back in.. is there anything else I can do to help her??

Poor girl. The foul odor indicates that she likely has a bacterial imbalance in her gut and parasites are still a possibiltiy here. Fecal exams can be falsely negative, especially if there was only a small sample size (of feces). I would recommend inquiring for the vet to treat her with a broad spectrum dewormer (i.e. Panaucur) just to cover most parasites that could be there. Also a short course of antibiotics (i.e. Clavamox) and probiotics from your vet should be able to normalize her stools, if she doesn't have something more complicated going on. Hopefully this helps her stools get back to normal. Best of luck to you and take care.

I would recommend to have her tested for Giardia if that has not been done yet. That could be the cause of the abnormal feces. If it is not giardia, I would discuss with Pepper's doctor a round of antibiotics and probiotics as well as a diet change. I would recommend Royal Canin as this diet is easy to digest and will make the intestinal cells not have to work so hard. There can be a few reasons beyond this that will cause cats to have abnormal stool. Start with these measures first. Please repost if you have additional questions about Pepper!
