How to remove sticky stuff from my dog's fur if washing didn't work?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 11 months and 1 day old | 55 lbs

I came back from vacation and found that Tigre has something sticky on top of his coat on his jaw. It doesn’t seem to be bothering him. I tried to wash it out when I bathed him but it didn’t come out. I’m having my deck built so it’s possible he could be chewing something that had something sticky and it dried on his coat or something. How can I remove this sticky part

If regular bathing isn't removing the substance you can try rubbing olive oil on the area and then using a fine tooth comb to comb it out. If this doesn't work you may need to take Tigre to a groomer or veterinarian to have the fur clipped away to remove the substance. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and good luck with Tigre!
