Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I just got a kitten from this women, the kitten seems to be about 7 weeks. It's very quiet, wants to sleep, it has drank water, and it recently used the bathroom. It was half runny half hard yellow color to it. And it stunk bad. Any ideas???

Congrats on your new kitten! I wouldn't be surprised if it had intestinal worms, which are very common in kittens can causes diarrhea. I would recommend taking your kitten into the vet for a health check first thing Monday. It will need vaccines if it hasn't had any yet, and I would bring a sample of it's feces with you for the vet to examine for worms. The vet can prescribe a deworming treatment, and give it vaccines if they feel it is healthy enough (it's not recommended to give them if the animal is ill). Other causes include a sudden change in diet or a GI illness. You can give it some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day to see if that helps with the diarrhea.
