My dog has a concerning bump on his snout. Is it an allergy or growth?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | neutered | 7 years and 11 months old

My mom’s dog has a bump on the side of his snout and it’s kind of concerning me. I don’t think he seems too irritated by it but it’s pretty gnarly. He’s been know to have bad skin allergies but I’m not sure if that’s what this is.

I agree that it doesn’t appear to be something that would be associated with allergies. It looks to be a growth of some sort. It could be benign or malignant, but I would definitely recommend that Buster be evaluated by a veterinarian. They may recommend surgical removal and biopsy. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
