Hi there and thanks for posting. Positive reinforcement can help teach her to defecate in appropriate places like outside. If you want to encourage her to defecates outside, reward her with a tasty treat whenever she defecates outside when you take her out. Say good-girl in a high pitched happy tone and reward with treat after she defecates. If you want her to defecate on the potty pad, then whenever she looks like she needs to go, lead her on a leash to the potty pad and say "potty" or ''go poop" and reward her with treat and praises when she does. I hope this helps and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! That is an excellent question and actually a somewhat common issue. This will only improve with time if you teach her well now. What I recommend is that when she does go inside (and not in the pad), you discourage that behavior as much as possible. When that happens, I recommend that you take the poop and put it in the pad and make sure that she smells it. When she finally goes in the pad, make sure to praise her and give her treats to let her know that this is the desired behavior. Keep in mind that this may take time but eventually, she will learn to do it the right way. Best of luck!
