My dog is hurting her 1-week-old puppy. Should I separate them?

Hello! Is it okay to separate a bitch and her 1 week old puppy? I've been worrying to the bitch's behavior of the way she's carrying her pup. Sometimes, the bitch would carry the pup by putting the whole stomach in her mouth and I've seen mostly about 3 bite holes to the latter.

Hi, Yes, if the mother is possibly causing injury to the puppy I would try and separate them but the puppy will still need to nurse or be bottle fed. Puppies need to eat continuously, so if you totally separate them make sure the puppy is getting plenty of feedings. Best of luck!
