My 17-year-old cat has brown spots inside her ears. What are they?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 15 years and 1 month old | 16 lbs

Just noticed my car who is 17 years old has brown spots on the inside of her ears like a discolor of the skin from the top down to mid ear. Kind of sporty like a leopard. Any idea what it may be?

These appear to possibly be freckles on your cats skin. As long as this isn't bothering Willow or the brown spots don't wipe off or smell, then it is likely just a pigment change and nothing to worry about. However, if you notice any raised areas on the skin then it's best to have your vet take a look at these areas and possibly have them tested. I hope this helps and best wishes with Willow. Take care.
