My cat coughs occasionally. Is it serious or can I use home remedies?

Hello Doctor Greetings! My cat is coughing sometimes occassionally. I would say alternate days just one time I suppose. Her breathing is normal and all her activities are normal. Is this something I have to worry bout ? Or can u please give me some mild medication or home remedy to treat my cat's cough ? Thanks in advance. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 7 years and 5 months old | 11 lbs

Chronic occasional coughing in cats is not uncommon, the number one reason would be asthma, if it is very mild and she isn't in any serious distress when she coughs, then treatment is not necessary at the moment, but she might need some medications in the future (prescription only that you can get from your vet). other possible causes include lung tumors, lung infection, hearthworm, heart failure and lungworms.
