My dog keeps licking his skin a lot. Is it an allergy or infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 6 months old | 20.08 lbs

I don't know why e has that in his skin. He's been licking that part a lot this past week. Any ideas what it might be? Should I take him to the vet?

It maybe the start of an infection due to an allergy. It is nor red or inflamed, so it does not need to be seen as an emergency. You can give a bath in medicated shampoo to help until you get an appointment
