Poor Gizmo. He needs to have an enema inserted into his rectum to help break up the hardened feces and allow him proper evacuation. A vet can do this, sometimes a light sedative is needed, or you can attempt to do one yourself with an over the counter enema (glycerin based) from your local pharmacy. To help prevent future constipation issues discuss with your vet about getting him on a high fiber diet or fiber supplements. Also laxatone can be given to help soften the stools if the constipation is serious enough. Allow him free access to water to keep him hydrated to help prevent dehydration as well. I hope Gizmo feels better soon!
