Cat scratching, scabs, and bleeding. What natural remedies can I use?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed

Hello, my cat has scabs along her side's and back and keeps scratching and making herself bleed. It appears to be driving the cat a bit mad. Is there anything natural I can use on her fur? Thank you.

If you cat is itching so much that it is damaging the skin, then this usually caused by a medical problem and I would advise that Cindy get checked out by a vet. There are some natural things you can do to help with mild itching, but I am not aware of anything that is powerful enough, or safe, once the skin is damage (as with bleeding). Common causes of severe itching in cats includes fleas, mites (skin or ear), ringworm, allergies, among others. Once there is damage to the skin, often oral antibiotics are needed to prevent advanced infection.
