My dog won't sleep in his bed. How do I train him to stay there?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 21 days old | 10.2 lbs

I adopted my Malshi in the beginning of August of this year and the guy I adopted him from told me he kennel trained him. I bought my malshi a new bed and he won't stay in it or on the couch or my bed. How do I train him to sleep in his bed?

Hi. I would recommend just making it positive. Teaching him the command of go to your bed, treat when he does, etc. Can also put it in a crate so he has to sleep in it, and he may get used to it that way. Good luck
