Is eucalyptus oil safe and effective for treating dog fleas?

Loki has fleas right now. Is it a good idea to wash my bed sheets and his with some eucalyptus oil mixed in? And is it okay for me to mix a few drops of eucalyptus oil into his dog shampoo? If I spray some diluted eucalyptus oil around his bed area and places he hangs out will it help?

Hi, sorry to hear about the fleas. You need to wash everything fabric in bleach or a strong detergent. Bleach is best. I do not recommend eucalyptus to kill fleas. Loki also needs to be on a monthly flea and tick preventative in order to stop this from happening. Some suggestions are Frontline, Advantix, or Vectra. Get a good quality preventative from a vet or pet store. Also, vacuum everything in your house. Good luck, I hope this helps!
